Ganvie is the world's largest floating village, with a population of over 45,000.

Located on Lake Nokoue in Africa, this town was built by local people over 400 years ago to protect themselves from slave traders.

The lake is only 2 meters (6 feet) deep and the locals filled the islands with earth from the mainland. As a result, the lake acted as a natural barrier to invaders.

Today, it is a popular tourist destination, with over 10,000 tourists visiting every day.
